Yes, absolutely. Letters are protected with multiple layers of encryption throughout their entire lifecycle:
While You Write (Drafts):
- All letter content is encrypted using military-grade AES-256-GCM encryption before being saved
- Every time you edit and save, a new encrypted version is created for data integrity
- Only you can access your letters through your authenticated dashboard
- Letter titles are also encrypted for additional privacy
While Scheduled (Before Delivery):
- Your letter appears in your Letters dashboard with a countdown timer showing when it will be "unsealed"
- The actual letter content remains fully encrypted in our database until the scheduled delivery time
- Even you can't read the sealed letter content until the delivery date arrives
- Our staff cannot decrypt or access your letter content at any time
When Delivery Time Arrives:
- Your letter is automatically "unsealed" in your Letters dashboard - the countdown timer is replaced with your actual letter content
- Simultaneously, the letter is also delivered to your registered email address as a convenient notification
- Both the dashboard version and email are decrypted only at the moment of delivery
After Delivery:
- Dashboard: View your unsealed letter anytime in your private Letters section - it remains encrypted in our database and decrypts only when you access it
- Email: A copy is also available in your email inbox, protected by your email provider's security (Gmail, Outlook, etc.)
- You can access delivered letters from both locations for your convenience
Data Transmission Security:
- All data between your browser and our servers uses TLS 1.2+ encryption (HTTPS)
- Email delivery uses encrypted SMTP connections (TLS 1.2+)
- Data is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM at the infrastructure level
Access Controls:
- Your letters are strictly private - only you can access them through your authenticated account
- Each letter is permanently tied to your customer ID with enforcement at the database level
- Our team cannot decrypt or read your letter content
Important Notes:
- Dual Access: After delivery, your letter is accessible in both your private dashboard and your email inbox
- Email Provider: The email copy is subject to your email provider's security policies
- Version History: Past versions of edited drafts are retained (encrypted) for data integrity
- Permanent Storage: Delivered letters remain in your dashboard indefinitely unless you delete them
